"As a kid growing up, I've seen a lot of bad things going on in the neighborhood. I never really thought I'd make it this far."  - Meek Mill

The fact is, Meek Mill is here!  The 26-year-old rapper is definitely, at the top of his game.

'You know, a lot of kids die around here.  People go to jail. I just wanted to try something different."

Hip hop appears to Mill's his refuge.  Despite a few bumps in the road, the North Philadelphia native has managed to become one of the biggest names in rap music  Now, Mill is  teaming up with another local talent, in hopes of helping others do the same!

Dion Waiters, grew up in South Philadelphia and plays professional basketball for the Cleveland Caveliers.

On August 30th, the two men plan to bring some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment together, to present the "Dream Chasers Summit."

This event is designed to inspire the next generation of young people to also go after their dreams.  It's their the hope that by sharing their personal stories, via panel discussions, workshops and more, participants will stay the course and reach for new heights.

"I don't care if I'm talking to 1,000 people as long as one  person leaves with the message in my heart." Mill told Fox 29.
