A Canadian scuba diver faces four years in prison after border patrol agents found 8 pounds of marijuana in a water-tight container tied to a seawall.

The PVC cylinder was found on the U.S. side of the St. Clair River, northeast of Detroit.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman says agents arrested 24-year-old Jesse Zunti in his scuba gear about 1 a.m. Monday as he left the river near Marine City in St. Clair County.

Authorities say someone called them after seeing the man swimming across the river.

Remote camera operators at the Operational Integration Center at Selfridge Air National Guard Base located the man and informed agents he appeared to be pulling a dry bag behind him.

Zunti was turned over to the St. Clair County Drug Task Force.

St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon says he faces one count of controlled substance, deliver/manufacture marijuana, a felony charge that carries a maximum four-year sentence.

Zunti is being held in the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center. He is scheduled to be back in court on Sept. 4.
