CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Bond was denied for a man who was charged Saturday in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the South Side last June.

Adam Holderbaum, 27, of the 3400 block of South Claremont, was charged with first degree attempted murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and an outstanding warrant for first degree murder, police said.

Police said the victim was standing on the sidewalk about 11:25 p.m. June 23 in the 3300 block of South Bell, about a block from his home, when two males approached on foot and fired shots.

Eduardo Venagas, 18, was shot in the chest and shoulder and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in Cook County, where he died at 11:59 p.m., authorities said.

Bond was denied for Holderbaum on Sunday, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday.
