Navy SEALs Dive For Sharks, Promote PTSS Awareness

Posted: Updated:

A group of Navy SEALs...will be taking part in a really cool event at the Aquarium Of The Pacific....Bobby D. was there with all of the shark-filled details.

Navy SEALs were swimming with the sharks today at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach in an effort to raise awareness for soldiers dealing with Post Traumatic Stress.  It was the first public event for Vital Warrior, a new non- profit dedicated to helping soldiers in need. Former Navy SEAL and founder Mikal Vega suffered from PTS and says rehabilitative techniques like SCUBA diving helped him control its effects.

"This event is our springboard onto the scene. We wanted to make a big splash with our first event", Vega said.

This August 28th join Vital Warrior as they dive the Aquarium of the Pacific and "Feed the Fish", play Tic-Tac-Toe with the visitors and even have a Shark Encounter with Mikal Vega, founder and US Navy SEAL.  Together with a handful of other SEALs they will Explore the Blue cavern and feed the wildlife in the Tropic Reef tank.

Since 9/11, more than 2.4 million U.S. troops have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, of veterans 30% of our soldiers return home with post-traumatic stress due to combat related stress and more thank 320,000 suffer from traumatic brain injury (TBI), while thousands more are misdiagnosed or are not diagnosed at all. The damage to our soldiers and their families cannot be easily calculated. What we do know is that an urgent national priority must be (made) to heal the wounds that are not so easily seen or recognizable that will give our Veterans a new lease on life. Education, training and on-going therapeutic support are vital components in the healing process. It is not easy. It is not inexpensive. It is possible.

The mission is to reach as many individuals suffering from acute stress as fast as we can!  A part of this goal is starting with our first facility in Southern California featuring all of Mikal's modalities for treatment. With plans to open more facilities nation and world wide.

As we grow The mission of Vital Warrior is to develop decompression centers within close proximity to a military base yet the center will be accessible to all. Each fully developed Vital Warrior Center will provide alternative therapies that address trauma on a brain-body basis. The philosophy is to provide clients with non-pharmaceutical solutions to healing, including hands-on-therapy, knowledge and skills to regaining a re-connection from within through hormonal re-balancing. Veterans especially, suffer from PTS and TBI and often disassociate from their families, friends and even themselves. What they need is a personalized approach to their healing.

Vital Warrior's vision and mission is to help clients reconnect to their lives, their families and their communities.

Sutter Zachman had his first record deal when he was barely out of his teens. You may have seen the Orange County native was on stage at the Largo and other hot clubs around LA. He then left town...after what he called a few "bouts" with the music business, but now he is back with a new EP called ‘Repeat Offender.'
