Cherokee Co. boil water advisory for FreeHome, Ball Ground areas

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -

A boil water advisory is in effect for residents and businesses in the FreeHome and Ball Ground areas until further notice, according to the Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority.

A failure on the main distribution line to the FreeHome tank may cause water pressure in the specified area of the water system to drop to low levels.  

When this occurs a potential health hazard may exist in these areas of zero pressure from backflow and/or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality into the water distribution system.

Repairs are underway and water pressure should be restored shortly
In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to boil all water prior to use; for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food.

Water should be boiled, prior to consumption, for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Once laboratory tests have been completed and the water is confirmed safe for human consumption, the boil water notice will be lifted.

Citizens, within this specific area, should continue to boil their water until the boil water notice is lifted.
