ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (Associated Press) -

Forecasters with the National Weather Service's office in northern Illinois got an up-close look at severe weather.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports lighting struck the forecasters' office in Romeoville on Saturday afternoon.

The office is on the campus of Lewis University in Chicago's southwestern suburbs. It's the agency's headquarters for the Chicago area.

The lightning strike temporarily knocked out weather radar and limited the facility's communications.
