Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash Wednesday morning that left a woman with serious injuries and closed Route 202 South near Interstate 76.

CHECK: Latest Traffic Conditions

It all happened around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.

A truck driven by Vernon Smith, 44, of Egg Harbor, N.J., was hauling scrap metal for recycling from westbound I-76 to southbound Route 202 when it overturned partially on the ramp. A side barrier held the truck up, but a portion of the trailer's load spilled over the side.

A large piece of metal landed on top of a 2004 Toyota Corolla traveling on the ramp below, which is from Gulph Road onto Route 202 South.

The car's driver, 46-year-old Janice Storms, of Lansdale, Pa., was trapped and had to be extricated.

State police say Storms suffered serious injuries and was taken to Paoli Hospital.

Smith had only minor injuries.

Route 202 South was closed through most of the morning rush hour, but it reopened by 11:25 a.m.
