New York Jets @ New England

I love breaking down numbers and so in the off chance you don't or don't have time, here are some numbers worth looking at when it comes to the Thursday night throw down at Gillette.

Jets:

Defense:
Passing Yards: 10th (185 yards)
Rushing: 8th (65 yards)
Misc: 3 sacks; 1 fumble recovery; 1 interception

Offense:
Total Offensive Plays: 8th (73)
Total Offensive Yards: 21st (304 yards)

Rushes:
Bilal Powell- 12-29
Chris Ivory- 10-15
Geno Smith- 6-47

Stephen Hill was targeted nine times in week one by rookie Geno Smith. There isn't a whole bunch to work with in the green side of New York..er' New Jersey.

Targets:
Stephen Hill- 9
Kellen Winslow -8
Bilal Powell- 5
Jeremy Kerley- 4
Clyde Gates- 4
Santonio Holmes-3
Chris Ivory- 2
Tommy Bohanon- 2

If you totaled the number of fantasy owners who started Jets (any Jet), you probably couldn't fill Knuckleheads. Right Brian Billick? In the off chance you are one of the hecklers in the crowd, Bilal Powell touched or was targeted in 12.41 percent of the Jets plays.

% of Offensive Opportunities:
Bilal Powell- 12.41 (17)
Chris Ivory- 8.76 (12)
Stephen Hill - 6.57 (9)
Kellen Winslow- 5.84 (8)
Geno Smith- 4.38 (6)
Jeremy Kerley- 2.92 (4)
Clyde Gates- 2.92 (4)
Santonio Holmes- 2.19 (3)
Tommy Bohanon- 1.46 (2)

Patriots:

Passing Yards: 5th (150 yards)
Rushing Yards: 29th (136 yards)
Misc: 0 sacks; 2 fumble recoveries; 0 int

Offense:
This is more like it! Give me an offense with some juice. The Pats led the league in snaps per game last season and they picked up where they left off. Team hoodie said "Chip Kelly, I'll show you fast break" and ran a league best 89 plays in week one.

Total Offensive Plays: 1st (89)
Total Offensive Yards: 7th (431 yards)

Rushes:
Shane Vereen- 14-101
Stevan Ridley- 9-46
LeGarrette Blount- 7-15
Tom Brady- 5 (-4)

Like he has always done, Tom Brady shares the ball like no other quarterback. Evident by his double-digit targets, the Pats will likely play Thursday without Danny Amendola and Shane Vereen.

Targets:
Danny Amendola- 14
Kenbrell Thompkins- 14
Shane Vereen- 10
Julian Edelman- 9
Josh Boyce-2
Michael Hoomanawanui- 2
Zach Sudfeld- 1

Shane Vereen was involved in 21.36% of the Patriots plays and his absence over the next month will leave a huge gap to fill.

% of Offense Opportunities:
Shane Vereen- 21.36 (24)
Danny Amendola- 12.46 (14)
Kenbrell Thompkins – 12.46 (14)
Stevan Ridley- 8.01 (9)
Julian Edelman – 8.01 (9)
LeGarrette Blount – 6.23 (7)
Tom Brady- 4.45 (5)
Josh Boyce- 1.78 (2)
Michael Hoomanawanui- 1.78 (2)
Zach Sudfeld- .89 (1)
