Nation Pausing To Remember 9/11 On 12th Anniversary

Posted: Updated:

Today marks the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, considered the worst attack on U.S. soil in history.

Now, 12 years later, the nation continues to remember. We reflect on that day and look ahead at how far we've come, and still have yet to go.

All around the country, people will pause to reflect on those tragic events that took the lives of thousands of people.

Later this morning, ceremonies will mark the anniversary at Ground Zero in New York and in Washington, D.C.

The president, first lady and vice president will attend a memorial service at the Pentagon.

And there will also be a moment of silence at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pa.

Today's anniversary is expected to be the last before the National September 11 Memorial & Museum opens at Ground Zero. That's due to open this spring.

We have full coverage all morning here on "Good Day Philadelphia."
