FBI: 'no credible threat' against LAX, JFK

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The FBI investigated a threat received about a potential attack on John F. Kennedy and Los Angeles airports this week but decided the threat was not credible, the bureau said.

"The FBI and our Joint Terrorism Task Force receive hundreds of threats daily, and we work around the clock with our partners to protect this city and nation," said FBI spokesman Chris Sinos. "We remain on a heightened state of alert, but stress that there is no specific or credible threat at this time."

Sinos said the "FBI continues to assess the information." Out of an abundance of caution given the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks this week, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security notified law enforcement agencies around the country.

The U.S. Open is underway in Queens and there's no denying that many of the players, both men and women, are in great physical shape and know how to play that up. Women are particularly promoted in the industry as attractive, fashionable and fiercely competitive. Does that help the game and draw more people in?
