U-Haul Truck Stolen With Family's Belongings

Posted: Updated:

"Everything, everything we own" Liza Harvell, tearing up, as she explained how the U-Haul truck, with all her family's belongings, was stolen from the parking lot of the Montebello Quality Inn.

Video from the security cameras show a dark vehicle parking next to the truck, right before both vehicles drove away. There is even a clear image of one of the suspects, given to us by Montebello Police.

The Harvell family, dad, mom and five kids (with a small dog and cat in tow), were hoping for a new start in L. A. They were moving from Vallejo, in Northern California, where their house had burned down, and one of the sons had gotten caught in the middle of a shooting. His carotid artery was shattered, and doctors called it a miracle, when he survived the 18 hour open heart surgery.

"We have been driving everywhere, trying to spot the truck" explains Kaz, the son who got shot. "Poor mom" he adds, what we didn't lose in the fire, we just lost!"

Just as we were about to go on air for Studio 11, to ask for information about the suspects from our viewers..Montebello police called, telling us the truck had just been found in Compton...

"Oh my God, we are speechless" is all Liza could get out, before breaking down in tears. Compton sheriff say the are belongings in the back, but they won't be able to release anything to the family, until U-Haul, which owns the truck, gives them permission.

They are hoping to get it done tomorrow...Tonight, the family is getting some well deserved sleep, and yes, they still plan to stay in Southern California, bless their souls.
