Ga. wildlife official chosen for national role

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials say 1 of the department's leaders has been chosen to direct a national organization.

Department spokeswoman Melissa Cummings says director of the agency's Wildlife Resources Division, Dan Foster, was named president of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies during the organization's annual convention earlier this week.

Cummings says the governing board of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies is comprised of agency directors from across America, Canada and Mexico. Cummings says Foster has worked as Wildlife Resources Division director since 2004, and his 1-year term as leader of the national organization begins immediately.

Cummings says Foster, of Social Circle, graduated from the University of Georgia with a master's degree in wildlife biology and is married with two children.
