Smyrna man arrested for DUI, Vehicular Homicide

A man has been arrested for DUI and vehicular homicide after police say he struck and killed a pedestrian trying to cross a busy road Saturday night.

A spokesperson for the Smryna Police Department tells FOX 5 News that the Amaliss Baker Martin, 51, of Smyrna was crossing Windy Hill Road near Woodlake Drive when she was struck by an SUV driving by 54-year-old Mark Edward Hume.

Martin was transported to nearby Kennestone Hospital where she later died.

Police took Hume into custody on charges of DUI, Vehicular Homicide and Reckless Driving. He will be held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center until at least his next court appearance.
