3 Attempted Child Lurings Reported In Bucks County

Posted: Updated:
MORRISVILLE, Pa. -

Parents in Bucks County are keeping an extra close eye on their children after three attempted abductions have now been reported.

One of the incidents was Thursday along Aspen Lane near Apple Tree in Bristol Township.

Two others were reported in Morrisville, the later of the two occurring just before 7 p.m. Friday on Melvin Avenue in Morrisville while it was still sunlight out.

Morrisville police say two men in an older white van – a white driver and a black passenger with distinct scars on his face – approached children playing near the end of the street here on Melvin Avenue. The passenger reportedly asked a 10-year old boy to get in, saying he had bubble-gum.

The boy ran off and told his parents, who then called police.

Police believe the duo is moving around approaching children in different neighborhoods.

"All parents should have a talk with their kids about – I think we all do it to a degree – but maybe more so these days with similar incidents going on in close by jurisdictions," Morrisville Patrolman John Aspromonti said.

Meanwhile in Bristol Township there was a similar incident where a 12-year-old told police two men tried to lure him with bubblegum as well.

In this case, the car was a two door light-colored sedan, but the suspect descriptions were the same.

Both victims told police the suspects are two men, one with distinct scars on his face.

The boy said one of the men grabbed his shoulder, but he was able to get away.

"There was the same approach in a similar manner," Aspromonti said. "But the only thing different was, I believe in the Bristol incident there was actually a man that got out and grabbed the kid's shoulder. Here, there was no touching, no grabbing. The actor just came up to him and asked him to get into the van with him."

Morrisville's mayor told the Bucks County Courier Times that Friday's incident was the second since Aug. 19, when a guy tried to grab a young girl and dragged her toward a light-colored car. That girl bit the guy's hand when he covered her mouth to keep her from screaming, then somehow broke free. She'd been with a little boy playing in a yard. Both ran into their houses, and their parents called 9-1-1.
