Track work to delay CTA Purple Line trains in Evanston

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Track maintenance will cause minor delays for CTA Purple Line passengers in north suburban Evanston starting Saturday morning.

Trains will run on a single track between the Central and Davis stops from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday because of the work, which is necessary to keep trains running safely, the CTA said.

Trains will also share a single track starting Sunday at 7 a.m., until 4 a.m. Monday, the CTA said.

The planned work then continues weekdays through Friday, Sept. 27, between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. each day.

During those hours, all passengers at the Noyes and Foster stations will board and exit trains on the Linden-bound side of the platform, the CTA said.

Minor delays are expected, and riders should allow extra travel time. The work will affect Train Tracker predictions, the CTA said.
