Soldier Meets His Baby For First Time

Posted: Updated:

A Kentucky solider met his two month old daughter for the first time after a long deployment overseas. Fox's Paige Quiggins caught the precious moment on camera.

"I didn't even know he landed. He just walked through the door." Jennafer Eaves said.

While mom and dad did not cry.

"How are you doing baby?" jimmy Eaves said.

Two-month- old Chloe Elizabeth was emotional when she got to meet her daddy for the very first time.

"Kind of, when I saw him walk through, I was kind of like, I know I will probably be water works later, but it is kind of all sinking in that he is home," Jennafer said.

Mom made sure she was dressed for the special occasion.

"The onesie says I have waited my whole life to meet my daddy," Jennafer said.

Specialist Jimmy Eaves has been fighting for our country in Afghanistan, missing precious moments along the way. But one moment made up for nine months of patiently waiting. And now he can only look in one direction.

"It's just so overwhelming. I'm overwhelmed," Jimmy said

The couple says they have even more to celebrate later this week, with an upcoming anniversary.

Jimmy said he is just looking forward to celebrating those little moments that make a big difference.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
