After serving more than 500,000 meals at the Palmer House Hilton, banquet server Bobbe Hellom is hanging up the towel. He worked at the hotel for 53 years.

A retirement luncheon was held for him at the Palmer House on Wednesday.

Hellom moved to Chicago when he was 18-years-old. He started as a houseman before working as a server. Hellom said he will miss working at the Palmer House.

"This is family within the family here," Hellom said. "We always look out for each other."

As for his retirement, Hellom says he doesn't have any plans yet.
