Chicago's Most Wanted: Hector Dondiego

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

This is one of those crimes that has left the victims scarred for life.

The individual the FBI is looking for is a man by the name of Hector Dondiego. He was arrested April 25, 2011 by the Chicago Police Department and charged with predatory criminal sexual assault.

The charges stemmed from his assaults on two sisters, relatives who moved in with him after their parents died.

Investigators say Dondiego repeatedly raped the two girls for years, starting almost immediately after they moved into the house where Dondiego lived. They say the girls were just 10 and 12 when the assaults started and the attacks continued until they were 18 years old.

Dondiego is said to have threatened them that if they told anyone DCFS would take them away and put them in different foster homes. One of the girls gave birth to three children during the time these assaults were occurring.

Following his arrest, Dondiego was released on bond. He failed to appear for trial and was convicted in absentia by a jury. He was sentenced to 100 years in prison. A local warrant was issued for his arrest. But when efforts to locate Dondiego failed, the FBI obtained a federal warrant on May 30, 2013 charging him with unlawful flight to avoid confinement.

Dondiego has family in California and around Michoacán, Mexico where he was born. But he also still has relatives in Chicago. His last known address was in the 6400 Block of South Lockwood Avenue. We believe it's possible he could be in the Chicago area, which is why we are asking for the public's help in locating him.

The FBI is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest of Dondiego.

Here is the FBI's description of Hector Dondiego:

  • Hispanic male
  • 35-years-old
  • About 5' 10''
  • 240 lbs
  • Large build
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Numerous tattoos on his arms, chest and back

Hector Dondiego is considered a danger to the community. If you see him or have any information about his whereabouts, you are asked to contact police or the FBI.
