Bride falls down stairs but still says vows

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (AP) -

It wasn't what she had envisioned, but a Livonia woman says she was not going to let a tumble and a shattered elbow keep her from taking her wedding vows.

Only minutes before 66-year-old Janet Harris was scheduled to marry Lester Perzanowski, 66, at the Holly Hotel on Sept. 14, she fell down stairs there. "Do you want to just postpone this?" Perzanowski said he asked Harris. She did not and in an abbreviated ceremony with Harris seated instead of standing, the wedding went on with about three dozen guests witnessing, some of whom had come from out of state.

After the vows and the traditional kiss, paramedics took Harris to Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. Harris did miss the reception.
