Stink bugs seek shelter inside tristate homes

MYFOXNY.COM -

They're brown, they're ugly, and they stink. We're talking about the appropriately named stink bug, which has recently been invading many homes in New Jersey and New York.

The Asian stink bug first arrived in the U.S. in the late 1990s. National Geographic notes that reports of stink bugs have more than doubled this year. When temps drop like they do in the fall, the bug looks to move indoors so it can hibernate for the winter.

Stink bugs were spotted in a Long Island playground, all over northern Westchester, and even upstate Poughkeepsie is plagued by the stinkpocalypse.

So far, stink bugs have been spotted in 39 states. They're harmless to humans, but are known to damage fruit crops and gardens.

Don't squish them. If you do, the stink bug will then become a sting bomb.

For decades, making some quick cash was the main drive behind so many who took the ride down the parkway to Atlantic City. But with so much to choose from nowadays, it looks like Atlantic City is in a lot of trouble.
