Muslim Woman Claims Restaurant Tricked Her Into Eating Pork

Posted: Updated:

A Muslim woman says that A TGI Friday's in Texas tricked her into tasting pork. 32-year-old Nicole Queen was dining in Garland, Texas, when the incident allegedly happened. She claims that the staff deliberately stuffed bits of bacon inside her drink straw.

The incident began, according to Queen, when they entered the restaurant for lunch. Queen says that her waiter gave her a chilly reception, which she thought was because he was uncomfortable with her being a Muslim. After ordering a Cobb Salad, queen had to send it back after noticing bacon bits on it. She made sure to be very nice about it in an attempt to ease any tension.

When it was time to leave, a different server brought the check; the original employee had stopped serving them. This new employee offered a free refill of iced tea. Queen claims that when she took a sip, she noticed something was wrong.

She wrote on her Facebook page: I got in the car and took off the top wrap and took a sip. Instead of tea, I got a mouth of bacon!!!

TGI Friday's then posted a message on its Facebook, saying that the company doesn't tolerate any discrimination, and that it has launched a probe into the bacon incident.

Queen says that the staffers made her feel like a minority for the first time in her life. Friday's has apologized. Queen says that she has no intention of filing a lawsuit, but she hopes the chain will offer its employees sensitivity training.
