Suburban Station Evacuated Briefly For Small Fire

Posted: Updated:

A small fire inside a boutique adjoining SEPTA's Suburban Station led to an evacuation late Monday morning.

The fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. at the boutique located in the underground concourse that adjoins Suburban Station, a major transportation hub located at 16th and JFK Boulevard in Center City.

The small fire was reported to have involved wires above the boutique, and it was quickly placed under control.

Although everyone was allowed back in by 10:55 a.m., the response from fire crews was causing some traffic tie-ups in the area.
