BEAR, Del. -

A school bus reportedly carrying students from the University of Delaware collided with a tractor-trailer Thursday night in New Castle County.

It happened at Summit Bridge Road and Howell School Road in Bear around 10 p.m.

About 40 people between the ages of 18 and 22 were on the bus, police said. DelawareOnline.com reports they are members of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and were on their way to a party.

Nine girls were taken to Christiana Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators say the tractor-trailer did not stop at a red light and hit the bus.

Roadways closed by this crash reopened by 2 a.m.
