Authorities ID Riverside boy struck by commuter train

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP / KTTV) - Authorities say a teenager riding his bicycle was struck and killed by a commuter train in Riverside after he went around the railroad safety arms.

The Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/19uTne8 ) says the coroner identified the victim as Serafin Gonzalez.

Police said the 15-year-old stopped and waited for an eastbound freight train to pass Thursday evening, but then tried to cross the tracks while the safety arms were still down. He was hit and killed by a westbound Metrolink train.

Police chaplains consoled family members who gathered at the train tracks after the accident.
