White flags raised at Brooklyn Bridge

Police responded to the Brooklyn Bridge on Tuesday for a major security breach at one of the most highly secured landmarks in New York City. Two white flags — international symbols of surrender — fluttered from poles on the stone supports that hold cables above the span connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. It is not clear who raised the flags that had a faint appearance of the stars and stripes or why.  The American flags that are normally up at the bridge were removed.

PHOENIX -

It's the kind of diet most men would love. Nothing but beer and sausage, for every meal, for 30 days. And believe it or not, one valley man is actually losing weight doing it!

"The sausage comes in many shapes and forms. I'm using today, beef sticks."

And a beer will wash it down.

"To me it was a fun thing to do," says Evo Terra.

Celebrating Oktoberfest for one month, Evo Terra would eat only sausage and drink beer. He lives on 15,000 calories per week.

To Evo's surprise, his doctor Terry Simpson said let's try it.

"We will do labs, make sure your liver is doing fine, lipids ok. I thought, with good supervision, if something goes wrong we will just shut it down," says Dr. Terry Simpson, Arizona weight loss doctor.

They didn't have to shut it down. At the end of the month, Evo was healthier.

"We blew everything out of the water. The first year, lost 14 pounds, most of it body fat. His cholesterol went down by a third."

This is the third year Evo has lived on beer and sausages. There's only one drawback.

Because Evo drinks five to six beers a day, he cannot drive. He needs a chauffeur. In this case it's his son.

His son NJ doesn't seem to mind. But he's not ready to try the diet just yet.

Evo's wife isn't on board with her husband's diet either -- that's because she's a vegetarian.
