Week 7 kicker rankings

Special to FV by: Daniel House

1. Steven Hauschka @ AZ

Steven Hauschka is currently third in field goal attempts (15) and he squares off with a reeling Cardinals defense who has allowed a fourth worst 13 field goals this season. Phil Dawson corralled three field goal attempts against the Cardinals last week and Arizona has awarded six field goals over the last three games. The Seattle offense has struggled to score touchdowns in the red zone and are converting at a 50% clip, which means Hauschka will see plenty of action this week.

2. Dan Bailey @ PHI

Dan Bailey has quietly been very consistent this season, converting on 10 of 12 field goal attempts, while recording a whopping 19 extra point attempts. This week, Bailey squares off with an Eagles defense that has allowed a fourth worst 13 field goals to kickers this season. Rian Lindell bashed two field goal attempts last week, but the Eagles have allowed just three field goal tries over the last three contests. Nonetheless, Philadelphia has awarded a fourth worst 20 extra points and given the Cowboys are converting in the red zone just 45% of the time, Bailey is a logical start this week.

3. Stephen Gostkowski @ NYJ

Stephen Gostkowski has attempted the most field goals in the league (17) and has missed just one attempt this season. He is solid from 50 yards and beyond and no team has averaged more field goal makes than New England this year. The Jets defense is tied for the fourth most field goals allowed (13) and a terrible Steelers team recorded four field goal tries against them last week. Rob Gronkowski should be back this week, which may limit Gostkowski's attempts in red zone. Nonetheless, given Gronk's extended absence, it may take time for him to restore to normal form, which means the Ghost will still see work this week.

4. Robbie Gould @ WSH

Robbie Gould is one of six kickers in the league who remain perfect in field goal attempts this season. Gould has tried 10 field goals and matches up with a Redskins defense that has allowed just six attempts this year. The Washington defense has been so awful, teams are scoring touchdowns in the red zone against them without any effort. Only seven teams have allowed more extra points than the Redskins, which means Gould will see plenty of work this week.

5. Justin Tucker @ PIT

Justin Tucker has attempted the fourth most field goals this year and has corralled seven over his last three matchups. This week he faces a Steelers team that won the battle of field goals last week against the Jets. The Steelers defense has allowed a fifth worst twelve field goals and the Ravens have scored touchdowns in the red zone at a 52% rate, which means Tucker will have a fantastic week.

6. Ryan Succop vs. HOU

Last week, Ryan Succop was owned in just 20% of leagues, but nearly 40% of fantasy owners are using Succop's services this week. Houston is in shambles and the Chiefs have been scoring an ample amount of points this year. Only four teams have attempted more extra points than the Chiefs, which means if Kansas City continues to hit the gas pedal, this statistic could skyrocket. Kansas City has converted in the red zone just 52% of the time, which means Succop will see plenty of work in week seven.

7. Matt Prater vs. Colts

Matt Prater has been overshadowed throughout Peyton Manning's historical 2013 season, but Prater has quietly done his job remarkably well. Considering the Broncos offense has been unstoppable, he has recorded just nine field goal attempts this season. The whopping statistic is the amount of extra points he has booted through six weeks of play. Prater has drained 34 extra points and is on pace to shatter Stephen Gostkowiski's extra points record (74), which isn't out of the realm. This week he squares off with a Colts defense that has allowed a fourth worst 13 field goal attempts and four to Chargers kicker Nick Novak last week.

8. Mason Crosby vs. CLE

It seems as if "Makin" Crosby is successful on a bi-annual basis in fantasy leagues and this year has been the successful draw. He is quietly having a great season and has attempted the fourth most field goals in the league (14). The Browns defense has allowed just 11 field goal tries this year, but with Brandon Weeden at the helm, more strain has been placed on the shoulders of the Cleveland defense. A normally dynamite Packers offense has struggled to score touchdowns in the red zone and are doing so at just a 45% clip, which bodes well for Mr. Crosby.

9. Nick Novak @ JAC

Nick Novak is steaming hot after a four field goal performance against the Colts last week. He has booted a total of nine over the last three weeks, which has went quietly unnoticed. Novak has thundered to the top of field goal attempts and has tried a fifth best 15 field goals this year. He is currently fifth in extra points (15) and is facing a winless Jags defense that has allowed a league worst 24 extra point tries this season. Novak should continue his success against a Jags team that has already entered the Teddy Bridgewater sweepstakes.

10. Caleb Sturgis vs. BUF

The Bills defense has allowed the second most field goal tries (16), which bodes well for Caleb Sturgis this week. Sturgis is 10 of 11 on field goal attempts and is fresh off a four field goal performance against the Ravens last week. The Dolphins have scored touchdowns in the red zone at a 71% clip, which means if Sturgis can't boot field goals, he will see a plethora of chances against the Bills.

Sleepers:

Matt Bryant vs. TB

Matt Bryant hasn't been awarded many opportunities as the Atlanta offense has been scoring touchdowns in the red zone at an 80% clip over the last two games. Bryant has attempted just nine field goals, but has mustered 14 extra points this year. Only seven teams have allowed as many extra points as Tampa Bay (14), which makes Bryant a sleeping beauty this week.

Graham Gano vs. STL

Graham Gano is ranked near the bottom of field goal attempts, but booted five extra points as the Panthers decapitated the Vikings last week. The Carolina offense has been so inconsistent that Gano hasn't been awarded many chances to boot the pigskin. The Rams have allowed just 11 field goals this season, but only four teams have allowed as many extra points tries as St. Louis (19). Gano is owned in just 5% of leagues and could be a nice option if you have a starter on the bye week.
