DETROIT (WJBK) -- Prince Fielder's postseason struggles continued Thursday as the Tigers fell 4-3 to the Boston Red Sox in Game 5 of the ALCS.

Fielder went 1-for-4 and stranded a runner at third in the seventh inning. He has now gone 17 postseason games without an RBI.

The lack of production frustrated fans as boos became commonplace at Comerica Park over the past three games.

Following the game, Fielder answered questions in the clubhouse:

Every time you go to the plate, there's a reaction from the crowd. What's your mind set when you get up there?

"I'm just trying to hit the ball hard. I can't worry about the crowd, you know? Because if they could do it, they would play. I'm just trying to hit the ball hard."

Is there any pressure with each at bat that you would go up there and try to break out of this (slump)?

"No, I mean it's regular. You just want to do something to try and help the team. That's just the regular pressure, nothing different. It's pretty much the same."

Do you think fans have short memories in the way they react to you?

"They're fans. That's what they do."

Is it disappointing to hear that reaction?

"It's definitely not pleasant, but they're fans. That's what they do. They pay to come."

Can you assess your postseason?

"I want to hit home runs just as much as anyone else wants to hit them to, but you know. I'm just trying to hit the ball hard."

The Tigers travel to Boston for Game 6 at Fenway Park on Saturday.
