Blackhawks owner to City Council: Don`t raise amusement tax

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The owner of the Chicago Blackhawks has a message for City Hall.

Rocky Wirtz told Mayor Rahm Emanuel and City Council not to raise the amusement tax on sports, concerts and theatre tickets.

The tax is already 12%. Wirtz told Crains Chicago Business, "I understand the city has a large deficit, but they've taxed us as much as they can tax us."

He said the tax hurts fans and people who rely on the entertainment venues to make a living.
