ENCINO (FOX 11/CNS) - A fire that broke out this afternoon in a three-story home in a hilly, inaccessible area of Encino left three firefighters injured and heavily damaged the large residence.
About 75 firefighters were initially dispatched at 3:37 p.m. to 4440 Balboa Ave., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Nearly an hour later, about 120 personnel were on scene.
The fire took two hours, 20 minutes to knock down, Scott said.
Two captains and a paramedic were injured. One of them may have suffered a broken leg, according to a broadcast report. Their injuries were not regarded as life threatening.
The owner, who works out of the house, was uninjured, Scott said.
