Police: Drunken high school coach belligerent

Posted: Updated:
NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - An assistant football coach at Darien High School has been arrested after police said he failed a sobriety test and fought with officers.

Christian Garnett of Stamford was charged with operation while under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and other charges. He posted $10,000 bond and is to return to court on Nov. 8.

Norwalk police say the 32-year-old Garnett was driving fast on three tires.

He's accused of kicking an officer trying to arrest him and was punched in the face by another officer and subdued by a stun gun.

Police say he was still belligerent when taken to Norwalk Hospital and was handcuffed to a bed.

It was not known Friday if he's represented by a lawyer and he does not have a listed phone number.
