JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -

Mike Bodker was re-elected as mayor of Johns Creek by nearly 58 percent of the vote on Tuesday.

The bitter fight for mayor in Johns Creek pitted incumbent Bodker against former City Council veteran Bev Miller. The vote comes amid an investigation of Bodker that was paid for by the Council.

Both faces are familiar to Johns Creek residents. Bodker is the only mayor the city has ever known and was seeking a third term. Miller was chosen mayor pro tem at the very first Council session and resigned to run.

The City Council commissioned an investigation digging in to Bodker's conduct.  He's accused of violating Council confidentiality, exceeding his authority and accepting gifts from a developer who had business before the Council.

Bodker says the allegations are part of a political witch-hunt.

"Priority number one is to go govern for the people, which is why we started this city seven years ago. I'm looking forward to getting back onto that track and away from some of the distractions," Bodker said.

The probe has created tension within the Council, which Miller says needs to be addressed immediately.

"Everybody just take a deep breath and let's get a positive outlook," Miller said. "Everybody get their arrows pointed in the same direction and start working together again."

Bodker took 3,697 of the total 6,238 votes cast in Tuesday's election to win another term. His opponent Bev Miller received 2,682 votes.
