SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

The holidays are officially here in the city of Chicago! A South Holland 57-foot Colorado blue spruce will be coming down at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, to become Chicago's official Christmas tree.

Generously donated by the Moore family, the tree has been selected to be displayed in Daley Plaza this holiday season, to warm the hearts of residents, commuters and tourist who visit Chicago.

The tree will arrive to the plaza this weekend, when prep work will begin to get it ready for the holidays. The tree will be lit in a special ceremony, attended by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Moores.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the tree lighting event in Chicago.

Terri Moore said her family is honored to supply the tree, but are sad to see "Lucy" go. The tree has been a part of her young daughters' home their entire lives.
