PHILADELPHIA -

A veteran homicide detective has been suspended from the Philadelphia Police Department and will be fired, authorities said Friday.

FOX 29 News spotted the 16-year veteran Detective Ronald Dove leaving the Internal Affairs Bureau on Friday morning with his representatives.

He was served with suspension papers on orders from Commissioner Charles Ramsey. He's officially suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.

Dove is the subject of several investigations related to his relationship with an accused murderer and alleged attempts to cover that up.

Investigators say that he failed to cooperate in a departmental investigation and lied about facts during the departmental investigation.

Police are looking at three murder cases and searched a ravine at Fourth and Westmoreland streets looking for human remains last week. Those investigations continue.
