Crews responding to boat in distress off Diversey Harbor

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Marine units from the Chicago Police and Fire departments, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard responded to a call of a boat in distress off Diversey Harbor on the North Side on Monday afternoon.

The Chicago Fire Dept. and police Marine Unit responded to the call of a boat in distress of the harbor at 2601 N. Cannon Dr. about 2 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

The call reported a boat flipped over out in the lake, according to police News Affairs.

The boat is believed to be unoccupied, according to both police and Fire Media.

A representative from he U.S. Coast Guard's Wilmette Station said a crew was en route to the scene as of 2:20 p.m., but no further information was immediately available.
