Chris Brown to launch line of Sprayground backpacks

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Endorsements can make millions of dollars for celebrities, but if their image takes a dive, usually their profits do too.

Celebrity endorsements are big business: Britney Spears remains relevant and rich from mass market perfume sales. Diddy boosted his fortune by helping build the vodka brand Ciroc.

We've learned one of the most talented but troubled superstars in the world is getting into this game: Chris Brown. We have exclusive video of how Brown set it all up on a secret trip to New York, right before he went into rehab. Brown has joined forces with New York-based backpack company Sprayground to create his own designs.

Sprayground owner David Ben David showed Fox 5 some of the bags he designed with Chris. He said there is more to him than meets the eye.

We've learned before brown went to rehab in late October, he shot a promotional video in a California desert.

But some wonder if Brown's domestic violence assault charge and his continuing bad boy image might turn off buyers.

Ted Kingsbery of shark branding said it has some impact, but not much.

David said the backpacks feature special interiors and compartments and there is even one that matches brown's Lamborghini.

Kingsbery said he sees dollar signs in the future even if he is in rehab.

The bags will sell for about $100 each and be available in stores next week.

Kingsbery said that at this point, the only thing that could go wrong is that they won't have enough to meet demand.
