Christian Bale: I Want To Talk About This Film

Christian Bale doesn't spend a lot of time in California.  But he was in LA for the "Out of the Furnace" press junket and he happened to see the touching story of Batkid, the five-year-old with leukemia who dressed as Batman and, with the help of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, got to fight crime on the streets of San Francisco.

"Wasn't that fantastic?" said the actor who starred in the three most recent Batman movies.

"I looked on the news and I saw this headline and thought, 'What's that?' And I saw all the pictures of him running around and saving people. It's so touching," he told vulture.com.

"What's his name, Miles?" continued Bale. "He must have been bewildered! Hopefully, later on, he'll be able to look back and say, 'Oh my God, how amazing.'"

Bale's "Out of the Furnace" director Scott Cooper agreed. "It tells you so much about the human spirit and how so many people care about that young boy," said Cooper. "In times of great crisis and peril, with that young boy going through what he's going through, we band together around him. That's what makes this country great."

1) He is an English actor. He has starred in both blockbuster films and smaller projects from independent producers and art houses.

4) Bale went on to receive greater commercial recognition and acclaim for his performance as Bruce Wayne / Batman in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012). He also portrayed Dicky Eklund in the biopic The Fighter (2010), for which he received critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.
