There are 102,000,000 single adults in the US, 47% are men. One of them is Jerry Liu. He's a recent college grad and self-professed "late bloomer" who wants to improve his confidence. With the wealth of information online and living in a city with lots and lots of people, how does he find the right role model? Jerry chose to turn to a real-life professional "Hitch," Kevin Cook. Kevin and Jerry were on Good Day to talk about the journey and Jerry's struggles.
How did Jerry find Kevin? Many people may ask. Jerry found Kevin through the popular site Meetup.com. Kevin was hosting a discussion panel about how to be more attractive as a guy, and Jerry took the risk and attended the talk.
"One of the things that holds guys back is that they aren't very confident when it comes to talking to women," said Kevin. "And the same type of nervousness that applies to approaching a random woman on a street or in a bar is the same type of nervousness that comes when you're just having a conversation on a date."
"How do you break that?" asks Mike.
Kevin advises having the right mindset: forget thinking about the results of the interaction when you go and initiate flirtations with a woman. Just enjoy the process and be in the moment! Let the interaction play itself out, and don't seek approval and try to plan steps ahead. Whatever happens in the end, the outcome is not a judgment on your character, and everything is a learning experience.
"Women love confidence in a guy," Mike agreed. "Are you feeling better about this?" he asked Jerry.
And Jerry admitted that it's on-and-off. "On certain days."
Mike asked if women could contact Jerry, and Jerry gave out his YouTube: http://youtube.com/jerryliufilms. However, Kevin interjected to this, warning, "This is cheating. Jerry hasn't been dating yet. He needs to start dating, I'm telling you. The first stage is to meet women."
Mike and Sheinelle both agreed.
"This is really cool!" Sheinelle admitted. Watch the full segment above and hear more advice from Kevin, and watch the original feature story about Jerry and Kevin.
