Petra Nemcova turns sights on children in Philippines

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Supermodel Petra Nemcova suffered a broken pelvis in the deadly tsunami that washed over areas of Asia and Africa in 2004.

But it was the sounds of the children screaming for help that she will never forget.

"After half an hour of not hearing them again. I had no choice. I couldn't help. I was hurt myself. That is pushing me every day to help children affected by natural disasters," said Nemcova.

The activist is promoting the Happy Hearts Fund that helps build schools for children around the world.

Proceeds from the Happy Heart perfume and nail enamel go toward the fund.

$10 from every perfume sold and $3 for every nail enamel sold go toward the Happy Hearts Fund.

"In seven years we have rebuilt 84 schools in seven countries. Together with Clinque, after Sandy, we rebuilt a computer lab in the Rockaways," said Nemcova.

Her sights are now set on helping the 4.9 million children affected by the recent storm in the Philippines.

"We are getting ready. We don't do first response. We come in six months after the natural disaster," said Nemcova.

Nemcova will be on hand to meet fans at Bergdorf Goodman', Saturday from 2:30- 5:30 pm on the 7th floor.

The Happy Hearts Fund perfume and enamel are limited edition for the holidays.  You can make a purchase anywhere Clinque products are sold.

The U.S. Open is underway in Queens and there's no denying that many of the players, both men and women, are in great physical shape and know how to play that up. Women are particularly promoted in the industry as attractive, fashionable and fiercely competitive. Does that help the game and draw more people in?

A new reality show is bringing a sense of urgency to your television screen. The show 'The Singles Project' is shot Wednesday- Saturday and airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on Bravo. “That's what makes the show different. We're filming in real-time. We're really on a roller coaster and it's off the rails. The social media part is just another layer,” said Joey Healy, eyebrow stylist to the stars. Healy, Lee Gause, Tabazum Mir and Kerry Cassidy are among the cast members.
