Police release photo of suspect in gas station robberies

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing as many as 15 northwest suburban gas stations of cash and cigarettes.

He is most recently suspected of robbing a gas station in Schaumburg on Nov. 5, according to a community alert from Schaumburg police.

He wears a black hooded sweatshirt that covers his face, and displays a black handgun during the robberies, the release said. He typically demands money and Newport cigarettes.

Authorities suspect he may have committed as many as 15 armed robberies in the area.

The alert cautions employees to remain vigilant of suspicious people loitering nearby. Employees should also greet and make eye contact with everyone who enters the store, the alert said.
