FORT LEE, N.J. (AP) - Police have identified an upstate New York man who was killed in an accident near the George Washington Bridge.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says Anthony Ruberto, 71, of Highland, N.Y., was driving a 2012 Ford van when he struck the rear of a tractor-trailer while approaching the bridge in Fort Lee on Tuesday.
Highland is across the river from Poughkeepsie, about 50 miles north of New York City.
The crash occurred when the truck slowed down, forcing officials to close two lanes and tying up traffic for hours during the morning commute.
Port Authority Police spokesman Joe Pentangelo says no summonses were issued in the accident.
