Philadelphia Celebrates Giving Tuesday

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

So far we've had Brown Thursday, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Some people today aim to switch up the focus by celebrating "Giving Tuesday!"

It's an international movement started a year ago under the hashtag #GT. It was created to remind us to give back to those less fortunate. Here in Philadelphia, a few entrepreneurs and non-profits are committed to making a difference on Giving Tuesday.

One of these people is David Pershica.

"Philly has been world leader in having a committee working on this all year long, and having me to help coordinate the non-profit in the lead up. So we're real excited," he said.

Today, several volunteer organizations were out to fix a house so that it could be rented out to families in need of housing

"This is about hope and a foundation for a very positive future for our participants," said Pershica.

Watch the whole segment above to hear more of what Pershica had to say.
