LeDuff goes inside massive Detroit Police raid

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

For the second time in two weeks, Detroit Police have conducted a large scale raid.

On Tuesday, the DPD teamed up with Michigan State Police and federal law enforcement to conduct a massive raid the size of a city block.

The target: The Martin Luther King Apartments.  A place where you find drugs, thugs and murderers.

Fox 2 reporter Charlie LeDuff and Fox 2 Photographer Joe Harris were invited to join the raid and you can see their video report in the player at the top of this story.

More than 42 people were arrested and 50 warrants were served.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig called the event a 'party' because the raids are liberating to the people who live in the community.

Craig promises the 'party' will keep going.  He also sounded a warning to business owners in the city telling one party store owner, "If you allow folks to keep committing criminal activities in your place of businesses, the criminals will keep coming back."
