Some might call it a dog-gone good deal.

The Dearborn Animal Shelter is overcrowded. The shelter says it currently has 65 dogs in its care and every cage is occupied. In efforts to encourage families to adopt one of the dogs, the shelter is offering a "50/50 Special" - a $50 adoption fee and a $50 voucher for the pet's first veterinary visit.

The special applies to any of the dogs that have been at the shelter for 31 days or more. All adoption fees include sterilization, a microchip and age appropriate vaccinations.

The "50/50" package offer is in effect until the dog population returns to a manageable number.

The Dearborn Animal Shelter is located at 2661 Greenfield Road in Dearborn.
