Jay Z and Beyoncé go vegan for the holidays; should you?

Power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé are powering through the next 22 days on a cleansing vegan diet. They say it's a "spiritual and physical cleanse." Veganism is a plant-based diet, so no animal products. No meat no fish.

Nutritionist Lisa Moskovitz says that while cleansing can be healthy, and a vegan diet too, there are risks because of the need for certain vitamins. So, vegans often take supplements.

Kevin Villavicencio works at Health Smart, a health food market in Murray Hill. He says he goes vegan every couple months. He says it can be an expensive diet.

I tried a couple difference vegan specialties at Health Smart, including the tofu and bok choi stew. Not bad. And for someone like me who has high cholesterol, probably not a bad diet for the future.

Sounds like a good New Year's resolution.

Just when you thought you have heard of everything we turn our attention to Hollywood for the latest in concierge medicine. Celebrity daughter and TV host Kelly Osborne recently showed off getting an IV drip. But she wasn't at a hospital. She was at home. She is one of many celebrities using expendable income on intravenous drips filled with things like saline, potassium, anti-inflammatory or anti-nausea meds, or vitamin B12 to help them recover from a hangover or exhaustion.
