Remembering Nelson Mandela's visit to Detroit

The world is mourning the loss of Nelson Mandela tonight, one of the greatest leaders and civil rights advocates of our time.

The former South African president passed away Thursday, December 5 at the age of 95.

23 years ago in June of 1990, when Nelson Mandela was still head of the African National Congress, he arrived in Detroit for a tour of an auto plant, meetings with city leaders and a rally at Tiger Stadium.
