Limited edition MetroCard for Super Bowl

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM/AP - Officials from the New York area's public transportation agencies are discussing their plans for the first Super Bowl to be played outdoors in a cold-weather locale.

Representatives from the MTA, New Jersey Transit, PATH and Amtrak held a news conference Monday at the Secaucus Junction rail station where they announced there will be a limited edition MetroCard.

Organizers are calling February's Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium the first "public transportation" Super Bowl.

They're hoping fans with tickets and those who travel to the area just to take part in the Super Bowl buzz will use trains and buses instead of driving.

NJ Transit has expanded platforms at the Secaucus station to accommodate longer trains for the big game. Officials have also previously discussed offering transit passes that will allow fans to use one ticket on different rail lines.

In November of last year, ATT attorney Judy Fairweather promised: "I will come back with an army (of experts)" in her bid to convince the Zoning Board of Adjustment to grant multiple variances that would allow her company to install 12 cell antennas on the NJ American Water Tower on Buxton Road. At the end of the meeting on Thursday, Fairweather all but sounded retreat after bowing to the request by residents, who asked that the next meeting be moved to Sept. 18.
