A picture may be worth a thousand words... but capturing it with your camera phone may hamper your memory.

Researchers at Fairfield University in Connecticut have dubbed it the "photo taking impairment effect."

In a study, people were asked to take photos of items and then try to remember what they saw without a camera.

They were more accurate recognizing things they observed than the things they photographed.

And, if you want to be happy, take some time away from your cell phone, according to researchers at Kent University in Ohio.  They found people who can resist looking at their phone for every message alert or call are less likely to suffer from high anxiety.

They studied hundreds of students and say their grades are also affected by checking that phone.

Those who were able to shut it off do better in school.
