Illinois residents shocked at Affordable Care Act prices

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Illinois residents trying to sign up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act are now facing sticker shock over how much they will have to pay for their coverage.

An analysis by Crain's Chicago Business shows many of the plans being offered here in Illinois have very high deductibles and co-payments.

According to Crain's many of the plans don't pay out until consumers meet deductibles of $8,700 or more.

To make matters worse those plans only cover 70 percent of costs once that deductible is reached.

Experts are warning everyone on the exchanges to check the deductibles and co-payments on policies before signing up.
