MARIETTA, Ga. -

Marietta police are searching for a man accused of picking up a woman in a vehicle purported to be a taxi cab and then sexually assaulting her.

According to the Marietta Police Department, the assault took place on Dec. 5 around 4:30 p.m. The man was driving an older model white Ford Crown Victoria with an unknown taxi company logo with red lettering. He offered the woman a ride.  He then sexually assaulted the woman at gunpoint on Lake Drive near Claymore Drive, according to police.

After the assault, the woman was allowed to leave the vehicle. The man was last seen heading towards South Marietta Parkway.

The suspect is described as possibly being Hispanic, 6'2" tall and about 40 to 45 years old. He has a scar over his right eye, a tattoo of a teardrop below the left eye and a large tattoo of a bird or eagle with red eyes on one of his forearms, police said.

Police are not sure if the man was a legitimate cab driver, or if he was just posing as one.

Anyone with information on him is asked to call Marietta police at 770-794-6990.
