We are learning more about the man arrested for sexually assaulting and killing his former girlfriend's teenage daughter.

14-year-old Claudia Lucero was found in a Mesa dumpster last Friday morning after her mother reported her missing.

31-year-old Alex Madrid is in jail for the crime and he has a long rap sheet.

Let's take a look: At 15, he was busted for stealing a car.

A total of 11 felony convictions, ranging from burglary to aggravated harassment and now first degree murder.

Madrid is behind bars on suspicion of sexually assaulting and strangling Claudia and disposing her body in a dumpster.

"As the Chief of Police for the city of Mesa Police Department and as the father of a high-school age daughter, I cannot possibly imagine or conceive the feelings of the Lucero family," said Frank Milstead.

Madrid was sentenced in June 2007 to 1¾ years in prison for physically and sexually assaulting a former

Girlfriend.  he got out, then was sentenced to another 15 months for sending her threatening text messages.

Court records reveal Madrid was removed from his family's home by Child Protective Services due to physical abuse.

At the age of 8, he witnessed his uncle's murder and started drinking alcohol and using marijuana.

Madrid dropped out of high school and has been in trouble since -- and now he could face the death penalty.
